LGBTQ
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Questioning)
A useful starting point is to know that LGBTQ students study
and conduct research at Caltech, like at most other universities.
They help solve problem sets, wait undergraduate dinners and
contribute to our everyday lives in many positive ways. In recent
years, many colleges acknowledge the need to enhance services
provided to LGBTQ students. Due to social stigma, some LGBTQ students
can feel isolated, making it difficult to make friends and thrive
at Caltech.
An
LGBTQ discussion group is sponsored by the Caltech Counseling
Center. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30
p.m. in the Health Center lounge. There
are many LGBTQ-friendly and welcoming places on campus and
you may start by joining the Student Pride listserv (see link below). |
