Health Education Website

Welcome to the Caltech Health Education website! Caltech Health Education is a joint service of the Counseling and Student Health Centers and is an active part of the campus safety net. We work together to plan and implement programs to keep you healthy.

Health education is important because it assists students in making better lifestyle decisions to improve health. Health education programs are designed to help students modify their attitudes, improve knowledge and teach new skills about health, prevention, and self care. Health education also empowers students with the tools they need to take care of themselves and those they care about. Finally, health education has been shown to improve student health and reduce risky behaviors.

College can be a stressful time for students, but with the right tools you can manage your stress and stay healthy. Students come to see the health educator for common issues, such as: how to deal with insomnia or trouble sleeping, how to manage stress and relax, and how to eat better and exercise more consistently. They also come to help themselves or a friend struggling with alcohol and drugs, disordered eating, relationships problems, sexual health or any other issue related to health and wellness.

If you would like to know more about health education services, or to make an appointment, please contact the Health Educator, Jennifer R. Levin, Ph.D. Her office is located in the Center for Student Services building, room 248. You can also contact her by email (jlevin@caltech.edu), or by phone (x2961).
